Loyal Dog Stays With OAP In 24-Hour Bog Ordeal
n 82-year-old woman has been rescued after being stuck in a muddy bog for over 24 hours with her trusty dog by her side.
The pensioner was forced to endure a night of heavy rain and gale force winds after reportedly falling head first down a bank into undergrowth.
The unnamed woman had not been seen since leaving her house in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday when the alarm was raised around 3:30pm on Wednesday. She had failed to turn up for a hairdresser's appointment.
A full-scale search and rescue operation was launched by Hampshire Constabulary to locate the woman, who was believed to be walking her dog in Pelmham Woods.
Officers on the ground, with assistance from a police helicopter, spent over three hours searching the area before finding her in the muddy bog alongside the A3055 Undercliff Drive.
Poor woman! But for her faithful dog, she almost certainly would have died, because of the location where she got stuck.
