2012 Summer Paralympics

The 2012 Summer Paralympic Games will be the fourteenth Paralympics and will take place between 29 August and 9 September, as governed by the International Paralympic Committee. They will be held in London, United Kingdom, after the city was successful with its bid for the 2012 Summer Olympics. It is the second largest multi-sport event ever held within the United Kingdom after the 2012 Summer Olympics.

I can't wait. I loved the Olympics and this should be just as good if not better. I'm sure each and every athlete deserves a medal. I know that if something terrible happened to me and I lost a limb / limbs/ sight, I'd probably just give up. I admire all people that can overcome adversity and make a great life for themselves.

Beauty queen, singer and Paralympic star

Britain's Sarah Storey has won Paralympic golds in both swimming and cycling, but the Italian Paralympic team have their own incredible all-rounder: blind runner Annalisa Minetti. The 35-year-old won the bronze medal in the 1500m in London and set a world record for her disability class since the final comprised of athletes in both the T11 and T12 classifications.

Her victory was just the latest taste of success for a remarkable woman as Minetti is both a successful musician and beauty queen, a former Miss Lombardy who was the first blind contestant ever to enter Miss Italy.
