Your blessed steel bat, to have such a visitor. I imagine she comes every night - probably having a family to feed somewhere in the vicinity.
Years ago, I had a whole family of hedgehogs set up home under my garden shed. First the mother - and then there were four babies. They used to come out on the grass to play. Somehow, they contracted a disease - you could hear them under the shed struggling to breathe - and sadly they died out.
I have always hankered after another hedgehog visitor, but as you say, steel bat, they must be becoming scarce. Besides I have had to get my side door replaced. The carpenter, who made it absolutely refused to leave a cut-out "hole" at the bottom - he was so proud of his work. So now, even if a hedgehog wanted to get in, there is no way he can.
They say hedehogs travel a number of miles foraging in the night. You never know, steel bat! Maybe you will have babies!
