First smile of the day

Good one, @penny! Yes, Dame Judy Dench is a terrific actress, with a lot of great parts to her credit.

I don't know if you'd call it a smile. When I went out in the garden I heard this awful buzzing sound like a siren. I looked in the corner of my window, where it was coming from and here was a humungous spider in a fight to the death with a bee. The bee was losing, as the spider was wrapping it up in sticky web material, rolling it round and round in the strands. The bee was losing - no doubt!

I said to myself: "I've got to save this bee!". I looked around for a little piece of twig. Eventually I got the bee away from the spider and the spider took off into its nest in a hole in a corner of the concrete, But the bee couldn't move, as it was wrapped around in this sticky web stuff. It was still giving off this high-pitched panicky buzzing sound. I got a second twig and bit by bit got the web stuff off the bee. She was able to walk, but not able to fly, and she had stopped the screeching buzzing sound. I guess she was totally exhausted.

I left her on a slab under some greenery and went inside. I expected she would die. I went out a short time later and she was nowhere to be seen. Hopefully she did get to fly away - or if she did die it would not have been in the clutches of that vicious spider!

Just for the record - here is the spider doing his dastardly work - but this bee got saved!
