Good point, Whisker. If you enjoy pastries, prepare them yourself and use whole grains where possible for some benefit. Prepare all foods yourself and you know what you've added to them. Better yet, eliminate sugar from your diet. The World Health Organization has been trying to get the world populace off sugar for years now as the average person consumes 30 tsps. of the sweet toxin daily. And yes, it "is" a toxic substance. Sugar reacts with your brain and body the same way heroin does and as the silent addiction grows you don't become aware of it until you dare stop using it. Then your body reacts violently as it tries to prevent you from eliminating it.

All refined products are stripped of their nutrients, enzymes and amino acids. That's why processed foods are dangerous eaten regularly.

If you suffer from "STS" (Sweet Tooth Syndrome), then satisfy the urges with naturally dried dates, figs and raisins, eaten in moderation of course.
