Panda Gets Artificial Help After Failing To Mate
Ah-h! Hope it's successful.
The UK's only female giant panda has been artificially inseminated after an attempt to mate her naturally with a male failed.
Edinburgh Zoo's Tian Tian had spent the previous couple of days together with male panda Yang Guang in an attempt to get them to reproduce.
But, by Saturday night, experts had decided the female was showing signs that were not "conducive to mating".
With only a 36-hour window during which female pandas can mate elapsing rapidly, the zoo made the decision to use artificial means.
