Thanks, Alpha! Two magpies produced a brood of five in the big trees to the back of my house. The noise of these fledglings, as they fly back and forth around my garden, is amazing. They do a lot of shrieking, while the adults do the clackety-clack. They come down for the cat-food, which I leave out for them, but they still love to be fed by the parents. They practice their flying, when they are not doing anything else. Also they like to bathe in the bird-bath and preen themselves as they sit on the arch at the bottom of the pathway. Great entertainment to watch from the kitchen window.
